Economic progress vital for country’s development, says Vice President

Dhulikhel, Feb 9 (RSS): Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun has said only economic development is vital for the development of the country.
In his address to the 2854th Khi Lho Sonam Lhosar programme organised at Roshi Rural Municipality-8 today, the Vice President called on people from all walks of life to focus on attaining economic progress and make the local community prosperous. He expressed his hope that local communities would prod up their representatives to the House of Representatives to work giving priority to the projects of national pride.
The vice president further said that it was matter of applause that participation of indigenous, nationalities, marginalised, and minorities’ communities had been gradually increasing at the State’s administrative sector.
House of Representative member Ganga Bahadur Tamang and State Assembly member Ratna Dhakal pledged to do their best to contribute to the development of the district bearing in mind its ethnic, cultural and religious identities, geographical remoteness and remote life.
Former lawmaker Tirtha Lama said the State was making efforts to promote the culture of indigenous people including of the Tamang community.
Prof Dr Mukti Singh Tamang was honoured on the occasion. National level singers Uday and Manila Sotang were there at the programme to give their presentation.
